Page contents: Higher standards for civic integration exam abroad

The standard of the civic integration examination abroad is raised. The pass score on the Test in Spoken Dutch (TGN) went up from A1 minus to A1.

A Reading and Comprehension Skills test is also added to the examination. The new version of the examination applies from 1 April 2011.

The raising of the pass score to A1 follows the common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The exercises in the new exam preparation package help candidates to practise for the new Reading and Comprehension Skills test. The new measures are designed to ensure that migrants are well-prepared for their arrival in the Netherlands and thus able to participate sooner and more effectively in Dutch society.

The stricter standards for the civic integration examination are part of a package of measures concerning marriage and family migrants.
